Hand Luggage Security Information at manchester Airport...

 
 
Cabin Baggage and Size Allowed
 
Only one item per passenger is allowed through the airport search point with a maximum size of 56cm x 45cm x 25cm (note: the re-sealable bag must be able to fit within the cabin bag). Additional items, for example hand bags, will be required to fit inside the one permitted item of carry on baggage.
 
Screened, but permitted are walking aids, wheelchairs and pushchairs.
 
Outsize Items
 
All items of luggage which do not fit in the permitted cabin baggage size (maximum length 56 cm, width of 45 cm and depth of 25 cm) must be checked in to be placed in the aircraft hold.

An exception to this is musical instruments, these are allowed on the craft as a second item of hand baggage. It is advisable to check with your airline before travelling if any special arrangements need to be made.
 
Liquids
 
Now some liquids are allowed through airport security and onto the aircraft. However, there are still restrictions on the quantity of liquids and the way in which they are packaged.
 
Passengers can carry small quantities of most liquids, each in a separate containers no greater than 100ml in quantity.
 
Containers must be transparent and carried in a re-sealable plastic bag, which itself must not exceed 1 litre in capacity (approximately 20cms x 20cms). Contents should fit comfortably within the bag and it must be sealed. Each passenger is limited to carrying just one such bag.
 

The bag must be presented for examination at the airport security point.

 
 
Any liquids that can't be carried within a re-sealable bag have to be packed into the hold luggage.

Note - Liquids of any amount are still allowed to be carried in luggage checked into the aircraft hold.
 
The term 'Liquids' applies, for instance, to:
 
  • All drinks, including water, soup, syrups
  • Creams, lotions, perfumes, oils, mascara etc.
  • Pressurized canisters and sprays i.e. shaving foam and spray deodorants
  • Pastes, including toothpastes
  • Gels, including hair and shower gel
  • Any other solutions and items of similar consistency
 
Liquid Baby Food
 
When f lying with baby foods please note that security at Manchester Airport states that baby foods and sterilised water are permitted in larger quantities above the 100ml limit but only sufficient for the journey. These liquids will be subject to a taste test at airport security.
 
Essential Liquid Medicines
 
For any passengers f lying with medicines please be advised that security at Manchester Airport states that essential medicines are permitted in quantities for the duration of your trip but they will be subject to the following authentications. You must obtain written permission from the airline and the airport. You should also have documentation from a qualified medical professional such as your GP or consultant.
 
Laptops and Electrical Items
 
Laptops, along with large electrical goods, for example a large hairdryer, must be carried in a passenger's hand luggage. At the security check points passengers are required to remove the electrical items from luggage for separate security checks.

If carrying a laptop bag this will considered as your one item of hand luggage, allowed in the cabin.
